English Biog:
“La Vie Sauvage” is the debut album by Lisza. Its title speaks to the rebellious, almost unlikely nature of a path taken. Lover of words and passionate about literature, the singer-songwriter left those pages behind to write her own story through finely-honed lyrics. This impulse inevitably led to music, in a universe which she always approaches by instinct. That’s just how Lisza is - she takes things as they come, in the moment.
In the spring of 2014, Lisza crossed paths with the Belgian singer Vincent Liben. Enchanted by her songs, he dreamed up arrangements especially for them, and new panoramas appeared for her compositions. Although her songs may express themselves in the language of Francoise Hardy, Lisza doesn’t hide her yearnings from us. Swept along by incessant waves of melancholy, the melodies stretch out under a setting sun: a late-evening reminiscence of the refrains of Cesaria Evora, Selda, Lhasa or Astrud Gilberto.
From then on, the couple found their balance: for Lisza the voice, and for Vincent the music. Never one without the other. They work as one, interconnected, ultra- compatible. When the words of a singer meet the harmonies of a musician, true love is rarely far away. Recorded at home, with the finishing touches provided by Rudy Coclet (Arno, Girls In Hawaïï) and Lionel Capouillez (Stromae), this first album stems from a continuous dialogue between voice and instrument. “La Vie Sauvage” is simultaneously a flush of freedom, a vintage perfume, and a record for today. Mindful of the times we live in, but protected from the violence of the modern world, the album preserves eleven songs in eternal grace. In her songs, Lisza chases after innocence, the naivety of childhood, a certain carelessness. Her music gives a new meaning to utopia and substance to nostalgia. Better even than a fantasy: a new reality.
